Turkey
So we have our first gig. We are playing at the Tunes and Turkey event in Regina on Thursday. We're playing a mixture of video game/nerd music and Christmas music. It'll be a good time, and a nice start to our process.

Firefly
Several of these posts, especially initially, will be about repertoire.
The first piece I arranged with this project in mind is a 3-part tuba arrangement of the theme from Joss Whedon's "Firefly". It needs a tiny bit of work, only in that I think I'm missing one of the violin lines. I'll probably give it to Tuba 2. It should be in top shape in time for our rehearsal Tuesday.
Only... a lot more repertoire to get ready. The advantage of busking is that you can have as little or as much repertoire as you want, it's just that you should err on the side of a lot, just so people can stand around for a while before throwing their coins, and not have to hear the same stuff over and over. I guarantee that amidst the onslaught of Christmas music in the malls, (which we will of course contribute to) a little Whedon will be a refreshing break.
So it begins...
Be it resolved that this is the mission statement of the blog. Three tuba players, Vincent, Adam, and Don from Regina, SK are planning to travel to Tucson, Arizona in May of 2010 for the International Tuba Euphonium Conference. 'Twill be a grand adventure. They will meet other tuba players, attend sessions and concerts, and learn lots. The single hitch is it costs money. Fundraising efforts will be put in place, and money will be made the best way these guys know how. Anonymous benefactors. Sort of. Several busking sessions will take place, and as much music will be played as can be reasonably learned. These players will have an epic journey, and it will be chronicled here, from inception to denouement.
Bam, said the lady.
